Innovation Lab

This week, the class made our first trip to the Innovation Lab to visit Mrs. Payne and Mr. Hadd!
The students are designing personal keychains to attach to their mini backpacks that we are using in the classroom, for different projects throughout the year. The students designed and wrote a paragraph explaining their keychain design in writer's workshop.

Our next stop was the Innovation Lab where we learned to use a 3D design program called Tinkercad. Once the class has finalized their designs, the keychains will be made using the 3D printer! The students have been very excited to learn about these news tools in the lab.

Ask your child about their design!

Halloween Party Mistake!

A note was sent home with a mistake!

Our party is NOT on Monday!

Our class will be having a Halloween party on Wednesday, October 31st. We already have plenty of scary sweet treats coming in for the students to enjoy. Students are welcome to wear Halloween colors, but save the costumes for for trick or treating :)

Thank you, Mrs. Christie

WOW words by Khloe and Evangeline

Each week, our class learns about WOW words.  Some words are large and some are small. We get to  write and draw about them. It’s fun when someone says a WOW word as we get to make WOW with our fingers and mouth.

Fire Prevention Week

This week GEMS is celebrating Fire Prevention Week by having our local Georgia firefighters come and show our students a safety presentation. National Fire Prevention Week is observed in the United States and Canada, during the week (from Sunday to Saturday) in which October 9 falls. In the United States, the first Presidential proclamation of Fire Prevention Week was made in 1925 by President Calvin Coolidge.

Talk to your child about fire safety at home and a plan a safe outdoor meeting spot with your family!

Thanks Georgia Firefighters!
