Donors Choose

Please consider sharing or donating to our classroom Donors Choose Project.

Fun and Flexible seating for All!

Right now ...donations to this project are now being matched, thanks to support from Argosy Foundation. We are pleased to partner with teachers in Vermont to support their innovative ideas for expanding opportunities in their schools.

The project is geared towards flexible seating options such as stackable stools, stadium chairs, yoga blocks, disco seats and Wobble Chairs. It will help the students maintain their space and focus for a more productive group work time.

Fun and Flexible Seating!

Check out the Donors Choose project that I just wrote for our classroom!

This week....

This week has busy and full of fun. Check out the photos below to see what we have been up to.

Here we are at our first Elementary School Culture Assembly of the year. Seeing everyone in matching GEMS shirts was really special and the students were excited. The focus was on respect, responsibility and safety. We were also able to see some students perform a few talents as well!

Mr. "B"

Last Friday, the second grade was lucky enough to watch a presentation about bees from local beekeeper, Alan Buchanan. Mr. B did a great job explaining the busy job of a bee and how a beekeeper works with them. He even brought in an observation hive for the students to explore! They had fun searching for the "Queen".

STEM LAB

Here are some photos of our first few weeks in the STEM lab together. The students have been learning about the different parts and functions of flowers along with the pollination process.
They have so much fun working together as engineers!

Parent Night!

  Dear Second Grade Families,

Welcome to an exciting new year of learning! The second grade teachers at GEMS are ready for a new year. We would like to invite parents and guardians to an informational meeting concerning your child’s expectations, curriculum and instruction in second grade. We will also be there to answer any questions or concerns you may have as well. If it is possible to find childcare for your son/daughter while at the meeting, we find it to be a more productive time.

When: September 20th, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.     Where: GEMS Library

We hope to see you there!

Library

This past Tuesday we were able to go to the Library to visit Mrs. Rider and her books!
Our regular Library day will be on Mondays, but I didn't want to make the students wait until the 11th, our first Monday that we are in school. The students really enjoyed themselves and checking out the new books on display that arrived this summer!
