Aliah's Blog Post

We are going to have a Dr. Seuss Musical. It is called Seussical the Musical.  Come see us on Monday, May 15th at 1:30.

Butterfly Puppets - PUPPETKABOB

Yesterday we were lucky enough to have a few local guest artists visit our classroom, Sarah Frechette, along with mother Carol and partner Jason.

Sarah is an artist, puppeteer and founder of PUPPETKABOB, a puppet company that has toured nationally to schools, libraries, theaters, museums and festivals.
(check out her website at: http://www.puppetkabob.com/)

Sarah taught us how to assemble our colorful butterfly puppets with dowels, paint, symmetry and pom poms! We will be bringing our butterfly puppets to a whole school assembly where we celebrate being GEMS here at Georgia School. The students will be able to bring them home after the assembly.

Here are a few photos from our afternoon...

Scholastic News

On Wednesday afternoons, the class partner reads our weekly Scholastic News.

The students decide on a place in the classroom to read, how they are going to read as partners, and how often they are going to stop to check for understanding. The conversations that have been coming from these weekly readers are just fabulous! After the students read, they answer comprehension questions to check in that they understood the big idea!

Last week we read about wind and kites! Stay tuned for this week!
