Addition Strategies by Teddy and Colby

Our class has been learning about decomposing, partial sums and how to use an open numberline.
My favorite addition problem is the open # line. The open # line is a common math strategy and it’s fun! We learned a math game you roll dice and see who gets to 50 first.

Bowling for numbers By Noah

This day we went bowling we did amazing and awesome and we had lots of fun.One kid even got them all down!!! We had a wonderful time bowling with each other it was a great day and we hope to do it some other day. The coolest thing of all was that all the bowling pins had numbers on
them. The numbers were big so if your the kid who knocked them all down, and then had to add them up... you are lucky!

Non Fiction Text Features

Our class has been learning about differences between fiction and non fiction books. We also have been investigating how we can use different non-fiction text features to help us navigate books and help to answer questions that we have. Here are the students doing a non-fiction text feature scavenger hunt. Ask your child what features were easy for them to find, and which ones were more of a challenge!

Flu...

From the health office:

Recently many students at neighboring schools have acquired a flu-like virus. The Health Offices at the Georgia School are also seeing students with similar complaints.  Symptoms of this virus include: HEADACHE, MUSCLE ACHE, JOINT PAIN, LOSS OF APPETITE, FATIGUE, COUGH and FEVER.  Often these symptoms start suddenly.  If your student has any of these symptoms, please consider keeping him or her at home.  The virus appears to be lasting about 1 week. Remember, all students with fevers need to remain at home until they are fever-free for 24 hours. Things you can do at home: get plenty of rest, drink lots of fluid, and eat nutritious meals.  Remember most cold and flu germs are passed on hands so take time for handwashing with soap and warm water.

In the STEM lab we made vehicles it was fun! The cars went fast when we raced them. Sometimes a wheel would pop off but we fixed it.

Colin and Chatham's Blog Post

In the STEM lab our class was testing our cars and it was fun. We made a gas out of baking

soda and vinegar and measured how far our car could go in feet and inches.  The pop made it go far!
