Today, our class reviewed how to use the Razz Kids app which most students used in their first grade class last year. The students are able to listen to, read and answer questions about different "just right books" at their level. I am sending home instructions in their home school folder on how to use the app at home and how to sign up for progress reports so you can see how your child is doing in class.
Here are a few photos of the students using Razz Kids today...

Today the students set up their grass heads and the decided which way their wanted the hair to grow. Then, the students decided how to rest their grass heads so the hair grew in the direction they wanted. Now we water, wait and watch...
In the STEM LAB, the students are currently studying the pollination process. Today, we looked a bit closer by dissecting flowers and diagraming different parts of a plant. The students were curious and surprised about what they discovered inside.

Hello 2nd Grade Families! Yesterday, I sent home a new red GEMS shirt in your child's backpack. Several times over the year, the students will be asked to wear or bring their shirts to school for our school culture assemblies. I will be sending home the dates of the assemblies as soon as they are decided, so you are able to wash the shirts ahead of time, if needed. Please feel free to contact me with any questions! - Haley Christie
