Publishing Party

Our class had a final publishing party last week! The students completed writing a final narrative for the year. Each student was able to read their story to a few of their class members as they rotated throughout the classroom.

The class was also able to go through, and take home a portfolio of their writing from throughout the year. The students were very surprised to see the growth they had made from the Fall of last year. Some students didn't even recognize their own handwriting! I encourage each child in my class to journal over the summer to keep up the writing routine.

Cardboard Carnival

Yesterday, our class was lucky enough to visit the 3rd grade GEMS Cardboard Carnival. The 3rd grade students have been working very hard on an arcade made completely of cardboard. It was a penny to play each game. The 3rd grade raised money for the Vermont Make a Wish Foundation.

The GEMS Cardboard Carnival was inspired by a young man named Caine who made his own, original cardboard arcade in East Los Angeles. Check it out: http://cainesarcade.com/
