The Snowflake Man
Today, the second grade had the pleasure of watching Sarah Frechette's award winning puppet show "The Snowflake Man." The student's attention was captured from the moment they sat down, Sarah answered questions for the students (in character of course) and they all learned a bit more about the man Wilson Bentley (Snowflake Bentley) from Jericho, Vermont. This is not Sarah's first time at GEMS, not only did she attend school here, but she conducted a shadow puppet production with the 3rd and 4th grade in 2012 which was performed for the entire school and their parents!

A Read Aloud in the Computer Lab!
At the computer lab this week, our focus was on reading. The students explored a few different websites. One of the websites had famous people reading well known books to the students. Another website had the pages of the story come alive and made the illustrations move. Students really enjoyed listening and reading along to the books.
Check it out at home!
